The first portion of the girls state weightlifting, featuring weight classes 154 and higher, has wrapped at the Kissimmee Civic Center. Group A, which includes the lighter weights, is set to begin, as the judges are addressing the lifters now.
Three area lifters took part in the morning competition, though none earned a medal, awarded to the top six in each eight class.
Bayshore's LaPorcha McCall (183-pound class) lifted a combined 255 pounds to finish 19th. In the unlimited class, Southeast's Carley Porter lifted a combined 310 to place 16th, and Palmetto's Naquita Charles totaled 290 to place 22nd.
