Days after his brother signed a letter-of-intent, Manatee defensive linemen Chris Pompey signed with Eastern Kentucky, according to Hurricanes coach Joe Kinnan.
Quinton Pompey signed with Iowa State over the weekend.
A defensive end, Chris had 81 tackles and a team-best 12 sacks for Manatee this year, and is expected to play a hybrid position as a linebacker that can rush off the end or drop back into coverage once he hits college.
Kinnan, who was an assistant for seven years at EKU and helped the school win the 1979 Division I-AA national title, told Dane Damron, EKU's special teams coach, that Chris Pompey was one of Manatee's best players on kick and punt coverages.
The Colonels compete in the Football Championship Subdivision, formerly known as Division I-AA.
