Prep baseball: Manatee, Palmetto moving on in Classic
SARASOTA - Manatee and Palmetto were winners again during the second day of the Sarasota Baseball Classic.
The Hurricanes defeated Estero 3-2 at the Buck O'Neil Complex, and the Tigers beat Punta Gorda Charlotte 4-2 at Venice High.
Each team is in the semifinals today of the Premeir Bracket. Manatee will face Miami Sunset, while the Tigers will play Royal Palm Beach.
The sites and times are to be determined, but tournament officials said the semifinal games will be played Wendesday at the same site.
In other action, Cardinal Mooney lost to Miami Sunset 6-3, and Braden River defeated Bozeman 16-2 in five innings during the first round of the Premeir Bracket's consolation bracket.
Lakewood Ranch is about to play Fort Myers Bishop Verot in the quarterfinals of the Elite Bracket here at the Buck O'Neil Baseball Complex.
