Prep track: More fallout from Class 1A-District 10 meet at ODA

Technical difficulties. Hand-time races. A running time of over 10 hours.
Plenty went wrong during last week's Class 1A-District 10 meet at Out-of-Door Academy, which also included athletes from Cardinal Mooney and Saint Stephen's.
A new development arose Monday: The wrong boys champion was crowned.
According to a story on the Tampa Bay Times' website, St. Petersburg Admiral Farragut had to hand over the team championship trophy to St. Petersburg Northside Christian, which won the meet by a point.
Farragut initially won the meet by a point, but the scoring was redone because of the 110 hurdles. Officials couldn't decide between the race's fourth and fifth finisher, a crucial element considering the top four finishers in each event advance to regional.
So Farragut's Samuel Hermanns and Northside's Mark Kinzler ran again, with Kinzler defeating Hermanns. The printed results, however, had Hermanns finishing fourth.
“In 27 years of coaching, it was the most disorganized meet I’ve ever seen,” AFA volunteer coach Phil Barnhill told the Tampa Bay Times.
