MaxPreps has listed Manatee centerfielder Cord Sandberg as one of the nation's top 10 high school outfielders entering the June draft.
"Some mock drafts have Sandberg, who quarterbacked the Manatee football
team last season, going late in the compensatory rounds or somewhere in
the second round," writes MaxPreps' Kevin Askeland. "Sandberg already has a scholarship to Mississippi
State, where he will play football, so don't be surprised to see him
slide in the draft despite his first-round talent."
Throughthefencebaseball.com has Sandberg going to the Philadelphia Phillies with the draft's 96th pick, while minorleagebaseball.com believes the Detroit Tigers will choose him with pick No. 36.
What does it all mean?
We'll see when the draft gets underway Thursday, June 6.
