Joe Collis, who has coached Palmetto's baseball team the last three years, said he has taken an assistant job with the State College of Florida.
Collis played at SCF, formerly known as Manatee Community College, in 1994-95, and was a member of the '94 state championship team that finished sixth at the JUCO World Series.
Palmetto athletic director Kenny Ansbro said the school hopes to have a new head coach in place prior to the start of summer workouts.
