It didn’t take long for Manatee to shoot to the top of USA Today’s Top 25.

After beginning the season at No.3, the Hurricanes assumed the top spot in the paper’s latest poll, which was released today, thanks to their 41-6 win over Miramar on Sunday and Miami Central’s 35-3 loss to Grayson (Ga.).
Miami Central was the preseason No.1 before the loss, which sent the Rockets careening to No. 25. Grayson hopped from No. 6 to No. 3.

The Canes jumped a spot to No. 2 following their Kickoff Classic win over Seminole Osceola win, and Sunday’s resounding victory coupled with Central’s stunning loss, as them sitting at No. 1.

Miami Central visits Manatee on Sept. 14.

The Hurricanes head to Sarasota on Friday to face Riverview.

Manatee remained at No. 1in MaxPreps’ Xcellent Top 25, which was released Sunday.

RivalsHigh100 has the Canes at No.3 and will be unveiling an updated poll Wednesday.

  1. you play central and miramar when they are down- smoke and mirrors like the wizard of oz

    1. A preseason #1 in the nation team is 'down'? You're delusional. We'll see you in December when we're lifting another state champion trophy. And laughing at haters like you.

  2. The traditions and spirit at Manatee High will always be top notch! Number 1 in the nation!!! Impressive. One thing I have always admired about Manatee that other local schools lack is the tradition, spirit and local support.

  3. central was beat 35-3 this past week haha that is typical of a #1 team right...

  4. miramar returned only 4 starters and had a long snapper who snapped like it was a shotgun snap... come on folks see through the smoke

  5. "TRADITION AND SPIRIT," says it all!

How can a team with Red, White and Blue as their school colors, ever fail?

    This truly is America's Team!
