Prep baseball: Sandberg, Hanewich among showcase invitees

Manatee's Cord Sandberg and five players from IMG's baseball academy earned invitations to The Perfect Game National Showcase, scheduled for June 14-18 in Minneapolis.
Among the IMG players are Brett Hanewich, formerly of Lakewood Ranch. Manny Ramirez Jr., Cameron Varga, Sam Proctor and Andrew DiLacqua round out the IMG contingent.
According to its website, 17 players who participated in the 2010 Showcase were taken during the first round of  the2011 baseball draft.

  1. I looked these guys up on Perfect Games website and knew about Sandberg (Miss St. for football) and Hanewich (Stanford and #74 prospect for 2013 class). Then I saw that Cameron Varga goes to IMG and is the #1 ranked RHP in the country, and #6 overall ranked prospect for the 2014 class by perfect game, and he's committed to play at the University of Florida. At the showcase his fastball was up to 94 mph, which was the fastest at the showcase and in the feature article that they wrote on him it said he had been up to 95 his sophomore year at IMG. Perfect Games mock draft has him projected as a top first rounder in the 2014 draft. Just curious why you haven't done anything on this kid before? It seems like we have some real talent in the area.
