  1. 2011 was a great year for Manatee County high school sports. In my opinion it is a close call between 'Manatee winning the 7A state football title' and 'Palmetto's football reaching a state semifinal for the first time since '86' but I have to say winning a state football title that has been 19 years in the waiting has to be #1.

  2. Congratulations to the Hurricanes. The kids deserve the credit; winning the 7A State Championship is fantastic. As a Palmetto Alumni, I voted for the option of both Palmetto and Manatee hosting state semi games in Manatee County as the Number 1 Moment for Manatee County Prep Sports. I would have also listed the 49 yard field goal by the Tigers' Zane Kitchell to defeat Hardee as a fantastic moment. One of the most exciting single instances that I have ever witnessed first hand.
