Bradenton native and IMG product J.R. Murphy had a huge night Thursday for the Trenton Thunder.
Murphy swatted three home runs Thursday for the Thunder, a Double-A affiliate of the New York Yankees, becoming the first player to do so in the Trenton team's 20-year-history.
He finished the game with five RBIs and three runs scored, and is hitting .364 with four home runs and 15 RBIs this year with Trenton. A catcher, Murphy has thrown out 6 of 14 runners trying to steal (43 percent).
Murphy was the Yankees' second-round pick in 2009. He was promoted to Double-A last year.
