J.R. Murphy is picking up where he left off.
The Bradenton native and IMG graduate will begin the season with the high Single-A Tampa Yankees. The New York Yankees, Tampa's parent club, took Murphy during the second round of the 2009 draft.
Murphy, 20, a catcher, was promoted to Tampa last summer after beginning the year with the Yankees' low single-A club in Charleston. Murphy hit .259 in 23 games with Tampa before suffering a season-ending foot injury while playing the Bradenton Marauders at McKechnie Field.
Murphy participated in his first big-league camp this spring and batted .273 before he was reassigned to minor-league camp.
The Tampa Yankees head to Bradenton for a four-game series beginning July 19.
