Bradenton Christian quarterback Sean McCarthy is headed to Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, said BCS coach Allan Gerber.
McCarthy threw for 1,295 yards and 10 touchdowns this year for the Panthers. He also rushed for 214 yards and seven touchdowns.
Case Western is ranked 41st in the country by U.S. News and World Report in its latest list of the top 50 colleges in the country and is a Division III school.
The Spartans, who compete in the University Athletic Association, went 8-2 last season.
In February, former Case Western quarterback Dan Whalen signed with the Cleveland Gladiators of the Arena Football League.
Proud of you Sean. Studying Biomedical Engineering, research opportunities at the Cleveland Clinic, get to play football and earning a boat load of merit scholarship money to help. Great job!
