Six candidates are being interviewed to be Manatee's new head football coach.
There are four in-house candidates - Chad Choate, Chris Conboy, Jim Phelan and Chuck Sandberg; and two outside candidates - Jason Milgrom and Kevin Wallace.
So look to the poll on the right and pick your candidate.
Jason Montgomery, Manatee's athletic director, said there are other candidates he is reviewing, so this may not be the end of the applicant pool.
But let us know who you like thus far.
Keep it inside at all costs..there is plenty of talent. The AD and the Principle will be accountable to the students, parents, alumni and community for their decision. (Hint: Winning in Kentucky isn't equal to Florida winning. I would have to pass on the STU coach although he does have my respect by virtue of the program.)
ReplyDeleteSandberg and Phelan are the only 2 on this list from the current staff that deserve consideration, The 2 outsiders are intriguing, but if someone were to be chosen not currently on the staff I'd prefer someone with ties to Manatee (Alumni) with either head coaching or at the very least OC or DC experience..............Choate and Conboy are jokes
ReplyDeleteIts funny the little poll on the side shows how simple some are. This is not player of the week vote so keep clicking!! FUNNY!!
ReplyDeleteConboy Joke is being nice!! Choate not a bad person but this is not the wildcats!
ReplyDeleteCome on! Choate?? What did you get all your family to vote multiple times? Give me a break.
ReplyDeleteVOTERS: THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT OF CHAD CHOATE. I AM FRIENDS WITH THE CHOATE FAMILY AND THINK THAT CHAD WOULD MAKE A GREAT COACH. HE HAS A WINNING SPIRIT, INTEGRITY, AND IS DRIVEN TO LEAD THE MANATEE HURRICANES AS THE BEST PICK FOR COACH!
ReplyDeleteMy name is Rob Biasotti and I have coached with Jason Milgrom for years. I have the ultimate respect for the Manatee football program having been a witness the way your players performed against us in 2009. Your fans are amazing. They were successful against one of the better teams in football history. Look at the players from that team who are now in the NFL. Concerning Jason Milgrom: He was one of the reasons for excellence at St. Thomas being on the first state championship team in 92. He has been mentored by a coach who spent almost 4 decades building a National program. I have seen him in Coach and Team meetings. His preparation and passion are contagious. As the OC his players on that side of the ball would walk through fire for him. Great mentor of young QB's. Ask John O'Korn at Houston. Bottomline is the guy is a winner---Rob Biasotti Strength Coach St. Thomas
ReplyDeletethe name of that mentor is Coach George Smith. Best Coach I ever saw

It would be nice if Manatee finally had a real QB coach.
ReplyDeleteHey Rob thanks for the insight....as a long time Manatee supporter I would agree with you on that 2009 game. It was an amazing night. I'm interested to see if the brass at Manatee would hire Milgrom. I personally feel he is the most qualified candidate. Anyone coming from that program willingly wanting to be a part of Manatee should be welcome
ReplyDeleteChuck Sandberg
ReplyDeleteJason Milgrom. If you want to build a legacy, there's no other choice!
