(photo by riveraveblues.com) Bradenton native and IMG grad J.R. Murphy made an impact during the New York Yankees' Grapefruit League home-opener Sunday afternoon in Tampa.
A catcher, Murphy went 1-for-2 with an RBI as the Yankees defeated the Philadelphia Phillies 7-4.
Murphy, 20, was the Yankees' second-round pick in 2009 and promoted to the team's high Single-A affiliate in Tampa last summer.
The Yankees head to Bradenton on Tuesday to face the Pittsburgh Pirates at McKechnie Field, though it us unknown if Murphy will make the trip.
